D2CCA NCBWA West Region

BSB | Six Gators Earn All-West Region Honors

SAN FRANCISCO - Six Student-Athletes from the RV San Francisco State baseball team earned West Regional honors between All-NCBWA and D2CCA. Daniel Murillo and Michael Cunningham were unanimous First Team selections for NCBWA and also earned First Team Honors for D2CCA. Nathan Shinn was a Second Team selection for both NCBWA and D2CCA. Justin Johnson earned D2CCA Second Team honors while David Eichhorn and Kyle Olimpia earned Honorable Mention NCBWA.

Murillo holds the program hit record with 93 hits. The everyday lead-off short stop slashed .384/.457/.620 and second on the team in runs (60) and home runs (13). He also turned 34 double plays and only committed eight errors.

Michael Cunningham had 18 home runs en route to breaking the all-time home run record with 27 career homers. He also broke the single season runs record with 65. Cunningham slashed .336/.432/.642, was third on the team with 78 hits and also had 15 doubles. Cunningham also lead the Gators with 20 stolen bases.

Shinn capped off his season going 8-4 on the mound with a 3.65 ERA. His 83 strikeouts on the season were fifth most in a single season.

Johnson played and started in 52 games, splitting time at DH, third base and first base. He slashed .307/.377/.522 and was second on the team in RBIs with 56. Johnson had 63 hits with 11 going for doubles and 11 over the fence. Johnson went on a tear during the CCAA Tournament to earn a spot on the All-Tournament Team and take sole posession of the all-time RBI record.

Eichhorn posted a 7-1 record on the mound and finished with a 3.66 ERA. He pitched 76.1 innings and tossed 59 strikeouts. Eichhorn had one complete game shutout on the season, earning him regional pitcher of the week honors.

Kyle Olimpia played in 38 games with 36 starts this season and was named to the CCAA First Team at third base. He slashed .374/.436/.638 and recorded 46 hits, 31 RBIs, 23 runs and a team-high seven sac bunts. He also had nine doubles and four home runs.
