| By:
SAN FRANCISCO – For the first time in program history, the No. 22 San Francisco State softball team will host the NCAA Division II West Regional, May 8-10, at SFSU Softball Field.

SF State defeated Sonoma State and twice beat RV Cal State San Marcos to earn the 2025 CCAA Tournament Championship and the automatic berth into the tournament. The Gators enter Regional play with a 37-18 record and boast six All-CCAA selections, including First Team selections Kai DeLeon (shortstop) and Rylee McDaniel (second base). McDaniel was also one of five Gators named to the CCAA All-Tournament Team and was the Tournament MVP. SF

State has been nationally ranked for the past nine straight weeks and ranked No. 2 regionally the past couple of weeks. San Francisco State last reached the NCAA Tournament in 2019 and appeared in the 2005 NCAA Division II National Championships.

SF State will be joined in the four-team Regional by RV Cal State San Marcos, Biola, and Saint Martin's.

Top-seeded No. 13 Cal State East Bay will host the other side of the bracket. The three teams heading to Hayward are No. Western Washington, RV Concordia, and Sonoma State.

The winners of the two Regional Tournaments will face each other in the NCAA Division II West Super Regional, May 15-16. The winner of the Super Regional will represent the West Region at the 2025 NCAA Division II Softball Championships, May 22-28, at Jim Frost Stadium in Chatanooga, Tennessee.
