SAN FRANCISCO - San Francisco State baseball's Michael Cunningham was named to the ABCA All-West Region Defensive Team. This marks a second year in a row a Gator has earned All-Region defensive honors with Daniel Santos earning them a season ago.

The everyday center fielder who was know for his power hitting and speed on the bases also was a defensive asset in the outfield. He finished the season with 140 put outs, three outfield assists and only one error. 

Cunningham earned numerous postseason honors including All-American Honorable mention by NCBWA. He was a First Team West Region honoree by the ABCA, D2CCA and NCBWA as well.

Founded in 1945, the American Baseball Coaches Association is the primary professional organization for baseball coaches at the amateur level. Its over 15,000 members represent all 50 states and 41 countries. Since its initial meeting of 27 college baseball coaches in June 1945, Association membership has broadened to include nine divisions: NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA, Pacific Association Division, High School, Youth and Travel.
