San Francisco State Athletics Mourns the Passing of Hall of Famer Frank Verducci

San Francisco State Athletics Hall of Famer Dr. Frank Verducci passed away on June 30, 2025 at the age of 92.

Dr. Verducci graduated from Lincoln High School in San Francisco, where he played basketball. Upon graduating, he attended San Francisco State and continued basketball, and participated in soccer and track. He earned First Team Northern California Intercollegiate Soccer Conference Honors and Second Team All-American National Soccer Coaches Honors during his time at SF State.

He also served as head men's basketball coach in 1965 and 1966. During his brief head coaching duties, his teams went 23-27 (.460) and recorded a pair of second-place finishes in the Far Western Conference. He remained on as the assistant men's basketball coach, notably for the 1968-69 season in which the Golden Gators won the Far Western Conference among a tumultuous campus climate.

After graduating from San Francisco State took him to the United States Air Fore Academy at Colorado Springs. There he spent three and a half years teaching. He was inducted into the San Francisco State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2008.
