SAN FRANCISCO - The San Francisco Softball team announces coaching additions ahead of the 2026 season. A pair of familiar faces return to the dugout as Kai DeLeon and Nia Trinidad join the program as assistant coaches.

"I am thrilled about the addition of two Gator softball alumni, Kai DeLeon and Nia Trinidad, to round out our coaching staff," stated Head Coach Alicia Read. "Having two former players who have excelled in our program, they bring a wealth of knowledge and invaluable experiences through their own collegiate journey that they can share and relate to our athletes. Their innate work ethic, continued drive to be a student of the game, and infectious energy will be a pleasure to work with every day."

DeLeon helped lead the Gators to their first CCAA Tournament Title in program history during the 2025 season. DeLeon earned D2CCA and NFCA All-West Region First Team Honors in 2025 in addition to being named to the CCAA First Team. The Gator's middle infielder finished her career ranked second in career batting average (.357), fifth in runs (132), fourth in hits (224), T-sixth in doubles (34), fourth in stolen bases (69), seventh in walks (63) and second in assists (551).

Trinidad joined the Gators in 2024 after transferring from Hawai'i Hilo. In 2025, Trinidad had eight appearances on the mound and posted a 3-0 record and 1.52 ERA while striking out 20. She also picked up a save and pitched three complete games.

Both players graduated following the conclusion of the 2025 season. Trinidad earned a degree in communications while DeLeon graduated with a degree in Psychology.
