SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco State women's basketball team ended its season with a 67-55 win over Stanislaus State to close out the season winning three of their last four games.
Prior to the start of the game, the Gators honored senior and four-year letter winner Talia Garner.
- SF State ends the season at 8-20 and 6-16 in the CCAA. Stanislaus State ends its season at 3-22 overall and 2-20 in the CCAA
- Athena Brombacher had a team-high 14 points. Monique Cavness had a career-high 12 points and Samantha Myhr and Gianna Darté chipped in 11 points.
- The Gators recorded a season-high 49 rebounds. Myhr grabbed 10 for her first double-double.
- SF State was stellar at the line and went 19-for-23. Brombacher had 10 of those points.
- The Gators got 29 points from the bench while Stanislaus only had six.
It took two and a half minutes before Stanislaus State scored the first bucket of the game and took a 6-0 lead at the media timeout. Cavness came out of the timeout and made both shots at the line and a jumper to get the Gators within two. The Gators were able to tie the game near the end of the quarter but Stanislaus scored on its final possession to lead 13-11. Deonna Mayfield and Caveness scored on back-to-back baskets to give the Gators their first lead of the game. The Gators started to pull away when they went on a 9-0 run highlighted by back-to-back threes from Tiera O'Connor. Brombacher closed out the second making all four shots at the line to give the Gators a 31-20 lead.
The Warriors fought back in the third quarter and came within three of the Gators lead. Cavness drove in a lay-up and made both shots at the line to spark the offense. The Gators made four three-point baskets to close out the quarter and lead 49-39. The Gators maintained the lead throughout the fourth quarter. Talia Garner highlighted the quarter with a three-point basket in the final minute of action.
