ATHERTON, Calif. - The San Francisco State wrestling team traveled to Menlo College to compete at the Oaks Invitational. Gavin Funk was the highlight of the day and won his first collegiate tournament win wrestling at 184lbs. Funk pinned his first opponent in 4:44 and picked up a 15-2 win over Ethan Miller of Southern Oregon to reach the finals. Funk had his best performance of the day in the Championship round. Down 1-0 in the third period, Funk escaped to tie the match up and secured a takedown to give him a win over Cal Poly Slo's Mark Ayala.

Khaisen Chen, Julian Barajas and Felipe De Matos all placed third in their respective weight classes. De Matos lost his first match but bounced back and won the next four. Three of the four were by major decision.
