SAN FRANCISCO - The San Francisco State women's track & field team hosted the Johnny Mathis Invitational on March 21. After a heat wave impacted the Bay area throughout the week, the Gators raced in more pleasant weather on Saturday.
Pettinger trailed the top three runners in her heat of the 1500m most of the race. She had a good kick to pass the third runner and place third in her heat with a season best time of 4:51.23. Yolo Javier, Raven Nieto and Steevie Ruiz finished one-two-three in their heat of the 1500m.
Corona-Duran had a strong finish in the 800m to post her best time since 2024 at 2:21.25.
After the conclusion of the 5000m, the Gators honored senior Yuridia Corona-Duran.
