SB | Five Gators Named to CSC Academic All-District® Team

SAN FRANCISCO - Five San Francisco State softball players were named to the 2026 Academic All-District® Softball team. Kharime Caratachea, Shaunessy Cardwell, Marissa Jordan, Kate Nelson and Ashley Rocha were all recognized for their accomplishments both on and off the diamond.

The 2026 Academic All-District® Softball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Caratachea made 24 appearances in the circle for the Gators and posted a 7-13 record. She tossed out 52 strikeouts and threw a career-high eight strikeouts against Jessup on March 27. The sophomore from Riverbank is studying Kinesiology and Sports Management.

Cardwell had a strong finish to her Gator campaign. She was the everyday first baseman, starting all 51 games there. She slashed .361/.473/.558 and led the team in RBIs (39) doubles (17) home runs (four) and walks (29). Her 53 hits on the season were just behind Rocha's. Her 17 doubles were one she of tying a single season record while her 29 walks ranks fourth in a single season. Defensively, she helped turn 10 double plays. Cardwell graduated with a degree in Broadcast and Electronic Communication Arts and Anthropology.

Jordan capped off a four-year career with the Gators. She played 49 games and split time as the designated player and third base. She slashed .324/.375/.430 and was tied for third on the team with 46 hits, nine going for doubles and two home runs. Jordan also recorded 33 RBIs and 11 runs. The Roseville native recently graduated with a degree in Biology.

Nelson started and played 48 games for the Gators, primarily at shortstop. She was third on the team in batting average at .346 and tied Jordan with 46 hits, nine doubles and two home runs. Nelson also recorded 20 RBIs, 27 runs and seven stolen bases. The sophomore from Monrovia is studying Business Administration.

Rocha had an outstanding senior season for the Gators. She was the everyday centerfielder and became the Gator's lead off hitter in the second half of the season. The Clovis native slashed .368/.473/.558 and was the team leader in hits with 57. Her 18 stolen bases ranked both third on the team and in the CCAA. Rocha graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and advances to the All-American ballot.

The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2025-26 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA governance structure.
