SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco State softball team closed out the season with a doubleheader split with Cal State Monterey Bay. The Gators won 9-7 in game one but could not get their offense going in game two and lost 9-0 in five innings.
- The Gators end the season at 22-29 and 11-19 in the CCAA. The Otters improve to 32-21 and 15-17 in the CCAA.
- Prior to the start of the game, the Gators honored seniors Marissa Jordan, Shaunessy Cardwell, Ashley Rocha and Taylor Rapp. Jordan, Cardwell and Rocha all played key roles in the Gators 2025 CCAA Tournament run. Rapp, a Sonoma State transfer, was a key member of a team that made three straight CCAA Tournaments and two NCAA West Regional appearances.
- With the win today, Head Coach Alicia Reid ties former coach Kristi Lansford for the second most wins in program history at 208.
- Cardwell was a perfect 4-for-4 in game one with a home run and five RBIs.
- Seniors Rapp and Jordan each hit doubles in game one.
- Rocha was 3-for-4 on the day with three runs scored in game one.
- The Gators had four errors in each game. They were able to make up for them with their offense in game one but the errors proved costly in game two.
A three-run homer and a sac fly put the Otters up 4-0 to start the game. Cardwell responded with a two-run homer in the bottom of the inning to cut the lead in half. With runners on the corners, the Gators successfully went for a double steal to make it a one-run game. Mares and Cardwell hit back-to-back RBI singles in the second inning and Jordan capped it off with a sac fly to take a 6-4 lead. Cardwell and Kate Nelson each had RBI singles in the fourth inning to extend the lead further. The Otters got both runs back with a sac fly and ground out RBI to cut the lead to 8-6. Cardwell hit her third RBI single of the game in the fifth for an insurance run. The Gators limited congestion on the bases the next two innings to one run to win the game.
- Kharime Caratachea (7-13) held on for the win, striking out six batters while giving up three walks, ten hits and seven runs.
- Kaitlyn Le (6-3) only lasted 1.1 innings before being pulled. She was charged with six runs.
The Gators fell behind early and were never able to find a spark to come back. The Otters led 5-0 heading into the fifth inning. Errors allowed free bases for the Otters and for them to add four more runs to get into run-rule territory. The Gators loaded up the bases in the bottom of the fifth with two outs but Olivia Mares struck out and the game was over.
- Tori Hernandez (2-3) only went five innings in the run-rule loss. She gave up 10 hits and nine runs although only five were earned.
- Jordan Knutson (12-5) kept the Gators off the board through five innings and limited them to three hits, all singles.
