SAN FRANCISCO - Julian Vargas of San Francisco State has been selected as the FloCollege/CCAA Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the week of Sept. 21-27. He becomes the first Gator to earn the weekly honor since Jacob Niles did so in 2021.

Vargas and the Gators traveled to Washington to compete in the Bill Roe Classic, where he placed fifth in the 8k race, recording a time of 24:27.8. Competing against several different GNAC schools, Vargas helped the Gators to finish ahead of Simon Fraser, Alaska Fairbanks, Central Washington, and Saint Martin's.

The junior from Watsonville, Calif., has secured his first CCAA Men's Runner of the Week honors in his career. Click here for the history of CCAA Player of the Week awards.
