Cameron Rowland joined the San Francisco State coaching staff prior to the 2018 season. In 2018, Rowland's first season, State was ranked No. 17 in the Collegiate Baseball Poll in addition to reaching No. 4 in the NCBWA West Region Poll and No. 5 in the NCAA West Region Poll. In 2019, the Gators had the third-lowest ERA in the conference and issued the fewest walks yet again. Pitcher Jack Higgins was named to the All-CCAA team and Riley Cleary earned a CCAA All-Tournament nod after leading the Gators to a 5-1 victory over No. 4 UC San Diego in the second round of the tournament, which is the first-ever CCAA Tournament win in program history. The team's ERA was third lowest yet again at 3.33 when the season was halted in 2020. The Gators issued the second fewest walks and were second most in strikeouts.

Prior to his stint with the Gators, Rowland served as the varsity pitching coach at Foothill High School for three seasons. He helped lead the Falcons to back-to-back East Bay Athletic League Division Championships in 2017 and 2018.

He was part of the 2015 Mountain West Championship squad which went 41-15. Rowland also spent one season at Chabot College and was part of the 2014 Coast Golden Gate Championship team that posted a 32-10 record. That same season, he was named CGG First Team All-League Pitcher, CGG Stopper of the Year, and a California All-State First Team Reliever. He also spent time playing summer ball in Wisconsin for the La Crosse Loggers of the Northwoods League.

Rowland earned his BA in Liberal Arts from Nevada with a minor in Kinesiology.
