Matt de Leon joined the San Francisco State coaching staff as an assistant coach ahead of the 2020 season with a focus on working with the team's catchers.
Prior to joining SF State, de Leon coached at St. John Bosco High School, where he also attended and played before transferring to Cypress High School. He served as the program's catching coach from 2014-19 and helped SJB to its first-ever Trinity League Title in 2017.
The Cypress, California played collegiately at Long Beach City College from 2010-12 under Head Coach Casey Crook. While at LBCC, de Leon caught the first-ever no-hitter in program history. He finished up his college career at California Baptist from 2012-14 during CBU's transition from NAIA to NCAA. In 2013, the Lancers captured the program's second Christian College World Series.
Coach de Leon earned a BS in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Sports Medicine from California Baptist. He also received his master's degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration at Concordia Irvine in December 2018.
