His efforts have contributed to an impressive 85-11 record for the Rams over three seasons, including a CCCAA State Championship, another state championship appearance, and a Sweet 16 appearance. Under his assistance, more than 20 players have earned Division 1 and Division 2 scholarships.

Before his time at CCSF, Sims coached at various levels, including as Director of Next Level Basketball, Assistant Coach for Oakland Rise Women’s Semi-Pro Team, and AAU coach for San Francisco Soldiers and Work Hard Play Hard SF. He also worked as a Basketball Coach at Drew College Preparatory School and Site Director for Legarza Basketball Camp, managing large teams and overseeing player development for 10 years while playing in college and in Europe.

Sims' coaching foundation is built on his impressive playing career. A standout player at the University of West Georgia, he was twice named All-Gulf South Conference and earned All-America honors. Sims was inducted into the University of West Georgia Athletic Hall of Fame in 2019, recognizing his contributions, including leading the Wolves to Conference playoff appearances and an NCAA Division II Tournament appearance. Additionally, Sims has professional playing experience in Europe, with stints in Italy and Iceland, where he won multiple championships and honed his skills before transitioning into coaching. His diverse background as both a player and coach at various levels of competition makes him a valuable asset to SF State’s basketball program.
