Brandon Davis

Brandon Davis

Davis joined San Francisco State in January 2017 as associate director of athletics for communications and fan development, and served as interim director of athletics in March and April 2018. He was promoted to Senior Associate Director of Athletics in February 2019. In August 2024, Davis was again named interim director and stepped back into that role in September 2024. A member of the Strategic Affairs Executive Team, Davis oversees all aspects of the department, including the program's ten athletics teams. Davis also serves on several other committees, including the San Francisco State's Clery Committee, which he served as Clery director during the pandemic from October 2020 to February 2021; and the University's Emergeny Operations Center (EOC) Planning Section.

The 2024-25 season was historic under Davis' leadership. The program successfully passed an alternative consultation to increase the Athletics fee and help stabilize the department's operations. In the Fall, the women's volleyball team went 26-7, won the NCAA Division II West Region Championship, and finished the season as the NCAA Division II National Runner-Up. In the Winter, the wrestling team sent two qualifiers to Nationals and Johnny Lopez won the NCAA Division II National Championship at 141 lb. In the Spring, the softball team made a tremendous run, finishing the season 39-20 and in the Top 25. The Gators won the CCAA Softball Tournament and hosted the NCAA Division II West Regional, both for the first time in program history. Additionally, Davis helped secure a $450,000 donation from the Start Small Fund, the program's largest single donation in nearly a decade.

Davis served for four years on the NCAA Division II Softball National Committee and was chair in his final season (2019). He also served on the NCAA Division II Women's Softball West Region Advisory Committee (RAC) from 2013-19. Until 2024, he also served as a member of the NCBWA National and West Region Committees, which votes for the Region Top 10 and National Top 25, and as the D2 CCA Women's Soccer All-America West Region Coordinator (formerly Daktronics). He spent four seasons (2018-21) on the USBWA Division II Men's Basketball National Player of the Week committee.

Davis has presented at the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) annual conference five times: on digital media (2012), on statistics (2013), on gameday experience (2015), on Adobe Creative Suite (2016), and on style guides (2018). Davis was one of five finalists for the 2021-22 National Wrestling Media Association (NWMA) Small College SID of the Year. In March 2022, he was the speaker at a Q&A session at the Associated College Press (ACP) Spring National College Media Conference in San Francisco.

The two-time PacWest Conference Sports Information Director of the Year (2012 and 2015) joined the Gators from his alma mater, Dominican University of California, where he worked for over a decade. He served in numerous capacities, including as associate director of athletics for communications and game operations. After helping Dominican successfully navigate the transition from the NAIA to NCAA Division II, he launched the program's athletics website, social media accounts, and live video efforts, all from the ground up. He was also responsible for the refresh of the PacWest logo that is still in use today.

The Bay area native helped implement a whirlwind of capital improvements across the Dominican campus — both athletically and academically. During his time, he had a hand in the addition of new soccer, softball, and tennis facilities, a new science building, full renovations of the alumni house and the weight room, and new scoreboards and branding throughout the Conlan Center. He also helped update the image of the program's penguin mascot, who debuted a more fierce-but-friendly look in 2015.

Davis and his wife, Melissa, their children, Nate and Harper, and their dog Teedo, reside across the bridge in Oakland.
