The Gator freshmen finished his stellar first year as a Gator placing 5th at the 2008-09 NCAA Division II National Wrestling Championships to become one of the four Gators to earn All American honors this season. He went 3-2 and won his fifth place match by a 10-2 major decision over Andrew Young of Newberry College
