Senior outside hitter Beth Perkins played a key role in SF State’s 3-0 week, which featured an upset of 13th-ranked and previously unbeaten Sonoma State. Perkins hit .269 in three matches, 62 points higher than her season average entering the week, posting a season-high .375 attack percentage and 23 kills at Cal State Monterey Bay on Sept. 15. Against the Otters she also contributed 11 digs for her seventh double-double of the year. Perkins then notched a team-best 21 kills and .295 attack percentage against SSU on Sept. 18, adding a block solo and a block assist, helping the Gators snap the Seawolves’ season-opening 11-match winning streak. Against Humboldt State the following evening, she led the squad once again with 16 kills, including three straight early in the second frame, which ignited a key 10-2 run as SF State took control of the match after dropping the opening set. For the season, Perkins tops the team with 191 kills (3.67 average per set) and has reached double figures in that category in all 13 matches, helping the Gators to an impressive 11-2 overall record and a 4-1 mark in the CCAA
