CSUS Spoils Gators' Senior Day

SF State Women's Soccer Seniors With Their Coaches and Family Prior to Today's Match with CSUS
Box Score SAN FRANCISCO --- The visiting Cal State Stanislaus Warriors scored all four of their goals in the second half as they blanked the SF State Gators 4-0 in spoiling the home team's Senior Day.  Karenee Demery scored two of the Warriors' four goals including the first one in the 67th minute as the visitors improved to 7-3-4 overall and 6-3-3 in the CCAA.
 
“We had enough chances to go ahead and did not finish any of them,” said SF State Head Coach Jack Hyde.  “Then we go caught on the first goal and went to sleep.”
 
The Gators (8-5-1, 6-5-1 CCAA) had an early chance to take the lead as Millie Brown stopped Chloe Harrington's shot on goal attempt in the fifth minute of the match.  Then in the 10th minute, Kiley Williams had two shot attempts be blocked by the Warrior defense and the other go wide left.
 
SF State's Annicia Jones then thwarted the Warriors' attempt to take the lead in the 14th minute as she stopped Karenee Demery's attempt. 
 
Both team's defense held the other team's offense without a shot on goal attempt in the final 30 minutes of the first half to send the game into the half scoreless.
 
The Gators once again came out firing early in the second half, but the Warriors defense stopped Justine Hernandez's attempt in the 49th minute and Brown than stopped Michelle Kay's attempt in the 50th minute to keep the match scoreless.
 
The match remained that way until the 67th minute when Demery connected on a shot outside the box from 20 yards out to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead. 
 
The visitors doubled their lead six minutes later as Apryl Whitney scored off a corner kick by Marissa Dunaway. 
 
Cal State Stanislaus sealed the win as the visitors scored on a own goal in the 74th minute and Demery connected on her second goal of the match off an ball from Dunaway in the 75th minute.
 
SF State will look to get back on the winning track as the Gators finish their season with four straight road matches in the next two weeks.  The Gators will begin with a night match this Friday, October 21st at 7pm against Cal State LA in Los Angeles. SF State lost 1-0 to Cal State LA on October 2 at home. 
 
Prior to today's match, the Gators recognized both teams' seniors including their own in Andrea Carey, Kara Cunningham, Tamerra Griffin, Jourdan Huffstutler and Kiley Williams.
