MORAGA --- The NCAA Division I Saint Mary's Gaels (3-1) shot 54% from the field including 46% from three-point land to key their 86-52 victory over the visiting SF State Gators in the First Round of the Shamrock Office Solutions Classic in Moraga.  The Gators' James Albright led all scorers with 16 points on 7 of 12 shooting from the field. 
 
“We fought hard in the first half, but we still are looking for that right combination on offense,” said SF State Head Coach Paul Trevor.  “This is a tough week for us with four games in seven days including two conference games, so we have to save our legs.”
 
The Gaels jumped out to an early 7-0 lead in the first half in the first five minutes.  Thomas Nesbitt's three off an assist from Nefi Perdomo stopped Saint Mary's run at the 14:13 mark of the first half.
 
Saint Mary's outscored the Gators 21-6 in the next 11 minutes to extend its lead to 28-9, a lead the Gaels would not relinquish. 
 
SF State's Tyler Brown connected on 1-of-2 free throws to cut the Gael lead to 33-17 heading into the locker room.
 
The hosts came out firing in the second half as they increased their lead 57-30 in the first nine minutes of the new stanza on a three by Jorden Page. 
 
The Gators (1-5) outscored the Gaels 9-5 in the next five minutes to cut the lead to 64-41 on a Max Fodor lay-up, but the visitors could not get any closer as Saint Mary's cruised to an 86-52 non-conference win.
 
Clint Steindl, Jorden Page and Stephen Holt each chipped in 14 points for the Gaels while Rob Jones had 10 points and 12 rebounds. 
 
Besides Albright's game high 18 points, David Love chipped in 10 points and 7 rebounds for the Gators.
 
SF State will face the Jacksonville State, who lost 69-61 to Weber State this evening, tomorrow at 5pm in the consolation game of the Shamrock Office Solutions Classic while Saint Mary's will face Weber State at 7:30pm in the championship game tomorrow evening.
 
With less than five minutes left in that game, Weber State leads 54-46.
