Marquel Hoskins Was 8 of 11 From the Field Including 3 of 4 From Three-Point Range To Key the Gators' Season Sweep of Cal State East Bay

HAYWARD, Calif.---  Four SF State Gators scored in double figures to key their 82-72 road CCAA victory over the Cal State East Bay Pioneers this evening at Pioneer Gymnasium.  Marquel Hoskins led the way with a season high 21 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assist performance for the visiting Gators, who improved to 13-7 overall and 11-5 in the CCAA.  SF State remains in third place, two games behind second place Cal State Dominguez Hills.

"We played hard this evening  and did what we needed to win," said SF State Head Coach Paul Trevor.  "We need to get back in the gym and see if we are playing for the right reason," added Trevor.

The early part of the game went back and forth until the Gators went on a 6-0 run to take a 23-17 lead with 9:36 to go in the first half.  SF State increased its lead to 35-23 on a three by Hoskins with a little over four minutes left in the half and took a 39-30 lead into the locker room.

In the beginning of the second half, the Gators outscored the Pioneers (3-17, 1-15 CCAA) 9-5 to take a 48-35 on a Hoskins' lay-up.

Cal State East Bay would not go away as the Pioneers cut the Gator lead to 54-49 with 12:40 to go on two made throws by Roshun Wynne.  That is as close as they could get as visitors increased their lead to double digits (67-55) with 6:29 to go on a Nefi Perdomo lay-up.  SF State held on for the 82-72 victory.

Besides Hoskins' 21 points, Winston Demmin chipped in 14, Tim Pratt added 13 and Perdomo scored 11 points for the Gators.  SF State out-rebounded the Pioneers 43-30 and held them to just 37% shooting from the field including 33% in the second half.
