Gators Snap Loss Streak in 70-66 Win Over CSUDH

Robbie Herndon Had a Season High 17 Points Off the Bench in the Gators' 70-66 Win
Box Score  SAN FRANCISCO---  SF State snapped their 15-game losing streak against Cal State Dominguez Hills this evening in their 70-66 victory over the visiting Toros at the Swamp.  This was the Gators' first win over the Toros (12-11, 11-10 CCAA) since a 85-79 win in Carson, Calif., on February 5, 2005.
 
“This was a good win for our program and I am very happy for our team,” said SF State Head Coach Paul Trevor
 
Nefi Perdomo was one of three Gators to score in double digits as he had a game high 18 points.  He went 4-for-6 from the field including 1-for-2 from three-point land and a perfect 9-for-9 from the charity stripe. 
 
Freshman Robbie Herndon had a season high 17 points off the bench for the Gators (9-18, 7-14 CCAA) connecting on three three's and also going a perfect 8-for 8 from the charity stripe.  Also scoring in double figures was Tyler Brown scoring a career high 10 points. 
 
“Robbie is coming along and is developing into a good CCAA player,” said Trevor. 
 
Myron Green and Wayne Andrews each led the Toros with 17 points apiece.  Robert Willhite chipped in 14 points for the visitors.
 
SF State jumped out to a 16-5 lead in the first six minutes of the game, but the Toros went on a 9-0 run to cut the Gator lead to 16-14 at the 11:24 mark of the first half. 

Herndon's two made free throws with 6:08 capped an 11-5 run by the Gators as they increased their lead to 27-19.
 
Cal State Dominguez Hills retook the lead as the visitors outscored SF State 15-3 to take a 34-30 lead with just 1:07 left in the half.
 
SF State scored the final five points of the half to retake the lead 35-34 on a Chad Delaney lay-up going into the half.
 
SF State held the lead up in the second half up until the 8:27 mark of the second half, when Robert Willhite's lay-up gave the Toros a 49-48 lead. 
 
Tyler Brown then hit a three on the Gators' next possession as the hosts retook the lead, 51-49 with 7:49 left. 
 
Matt Cain's two made free throws tied the game at 51-51 with 7:15 to go, but Herndon hit a three to give the Gators a 54-51 lead, a lead they would not relinquish. 
 
Robbie Herndon's three gave the Gators a 60-53 with less than five minutes to go. 
 
The Toros would not go away as they cut the Gator lead to 62-59 on a Robert Willhite jumper with 2:17 left in regulation.
 
SF State finished the game going 8-for-8 from the line including Herndon going 6-for-6 as the Gators hung on for the 70-66 victory.
 
The Gators will end their season this Friday, February 24 as they host Cal State L.A. in their regular season home finale.  Prior to the game, the Gators will recognize both teams' seniors including their own Tyler Brown, Chad Delaney, Griffin Reilly and Daniel Trammel.  Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30pm at the Swamp.
