SAN FRANCISCO --- It's been almost three months since the San Francisco State wrestling team has hosted a home event, but live on the road is halting for the Gators as they host a Simpson and No. 6-ranked Grand Canyon. The two visiting teams will face off against each other at 11 a.m., followed by SF State taking on the ranked Antelopes at 1 p.m. and the Red Hawks at 3 p.m., all at The Swamp.
All three duals will featured live video coverage via the SF State Gator UStream account located at

SF State comes off a successful showing at the University of Nebraska-Kearney Duals where the Gators walked away with a 3-1 record on the day. The Gators defeated Colorado State-Pueblo 24-18 to start the day and upset No. 17-ranked Adams State 21-19 in the second dual. Continuing on a roll, SF State took down Newman 29-15, but fell to No. 10-ranked Colorado Mesa in a tight 21-18 battle to conclude the day. ... The Gators currently rank fourth in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference with a conference record of 2-1. ...
Isaiah Jimenez led the Gators with an undefeated 4-0 record, including two pins and two wins by decision, earning himself RMAC Wrestler of the Week honors for the week of Jan. 22.Jimenez currently ranks seventh in the nation at 165. ...
Naveed Bagheri, who ranks third in the nation at 141, grabbed his first pin of the season, along with a technical fall and win by forfeir, to go 3-1 on the day. ...

'Lope Notes
No. 6-ranked Grand Canyon currently sits on top of the RMAC with an undefeated 3-0 conference record, 9-4 overall. The 'Lopes will face off at Menlo on Friday before making their way to SF State and come off a three-dual win streak. The 'Lopes beat New Mexico Highlands 30-10 before defeating Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) 28-9 and Southern Orgeon 23-14 at the Mile High Duals. In the 23-14 win over SOU, Grand Canyon won four of five matches that were decided by two points or less. ... Lino Estrada leads GCU at 133 and comes off a 2-0 record at the Mile High Duals. Estrada grabbed one win by fall and took a close 4-3 decision over National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics No. 1 133 wrestler Prescott Gardner from Southern Oregon.
Red Hawk Notes
Earlier this season SF State and Simpson faced each other with the Gators grabbing a 42-6 edge over the host Red Hawks. The NAIA squad enters Sunday's competition after competitng at the Oregon Open. Anthony Vega won four-straight matches at 141, including two by pin, to go to the final match. Vega couldn't keep his streak alive, however, dropping the championship round 8-4 to Oregon State's Joe Delgado. ... Matthew Tsarnasat 165 and heavyweight Austin Lobsinger also placed at the tournament, each walking away with third. Lobsinger ended the day with a throw to a pin over Oregon State's Mick Dougherty, after posting three win by pins.
