TURLOCK, Calif.---  It was a little too late for the visiting SF State Gators as their rally fell short in their 66-61 loss to the Cal State Stanislaus Warriors (12-5, 8-5 CCAA) this evening in a CCAA match-up at Fitzgibbon Arena in Turlock, Calif.  With the win, the Warriors improve to 9-0 at home while the Gators fall to 9-7 overall and 7-6 in the CCAA.

"This is a tough place to play as the Warriors proved this evening why they are 9-0 at home," said SF State head coach Paul Trevor.  "We struggled offensively tonight and our rally at the end was a little too late."

The Warriors, who are now tied with Cal State L.A. in fourth place, had four players in double digits in scoring led by Chris Read's 18 points.  Rob Walters had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.  Clinton Tremelling and Marcus Bell each had 11 points for the hosts.

Calvin Otiono paced the Gators with a season high 20 points on 7-for-12 shooting from the field including connecting on four of his seven attempts from beyond the arc.  The senior guard also had six rebounds and four assists while Nefi Perdomo added 10 points for the visitors, who are now in sixth place in the CCAA (one game out of fourth place).

Cal State Stanislaus held the Gators to just 35% shooting from the field including 31% in the first half.
The Warriors built a 26-13 lead in the first 11 minutes of the first half.  SF State cut the lead to 26-18 on an Erik Fearn lay-up at the 6:50 mark.

Cal State Stanislaus increased its lead back to double digits (34-22) in the next four minutes, but the Gators ended the half on a 7-0 run capped by a Perdomo three to cut the deficit to 34-29 lead heading into the locker room.

Udun Osakue's lay-up in the first possession of the second half cut the Warriors' lead to 34-31, but the hosts went on a 12-4 run to take a 46-35 lead in the next five minutes.

They increased their lead to 59-42 (their largest of the game) on a Chris Read lay-up with 7:25 to go in the game.

SF State would not go away as a three by Perdomo capped a 9-1 run by the Gators as they cut the deficit to 60-51 with 4:28 on the clock.

The Warriors' Read connected on a lay-up to give the hosts a 62-52, but the visitors still would not cave in as they cut the deficit to 64-59 on a three by Otiono with just 11 ticks on the clock.

Read was fouled and made both free throws to seal the win for the Warriors as they held on for a 66-61 victory.

SF State will now travel north on CA-99 for their 7:30pm scheduled conference game at Chico State tomorrow evening in Chico, Calif.  The Wildcats defeated Sonoma State 76-68 this evening in Chico.  The Gators lost to Chico State 67-50 earlier this season in San Francisco.
