San Francisco – The SF State women's volleyball team continues to be snakebite by Saturday evening matches, the Gators fall to 0-7 on the sixth day of the week, as SF State fell to visiting Cal State Stanislaus 3-0 (22-25, 21-25, 23-25) at the SF State Gymnasium at Don Nasser Family Plaza.
As a team, the Gators (7-9/5-6 CCAA) hit just .195 as a team. SF State was led by the spectacular play of
Jaclyn Clark who posted a match-high 20 kills with a .286 attack percentage, she also added 14 digs for her seventh double-double of the year. For the weekend, Clark recorded 40 kills, averaging 5.71 kills per set while hitting .341 with 29 digs.
Setter
Jacquie Brice also had a strong performance on the evening, recording her team-leading eighth double-double of the year, tallying a match-high 39 assists and a team-leading 17 digs.Â
Kaileen Mejia posted nine kills on the evening, while freshmen
Samantha Krakower and
Christine Johnson got in the mix with four kills each. Krakower also recorded her first career ace on the evening.
In the opening set the Gators came out sloppy on the attack. SF State hit .146, recording 14 kills while hitting eight errors. The set featured eight ties and three lead changes. The Warriors (2-13/2-9 CCAA) took the lead for good following an attack error by the Gators, Cal State Stanislaus was able to put the set away following another attack error by SF State.
In the second set it was more of the same, the Gators hit a match-low .140 with nine attack errors. The Warriors played inspired volleyball hitting .233 and took the 2-0 advantage heading into the third and final set. In the third set the Gators played well, after falling behind 10-5 SF State rallied and eventually tied the match at 20-20. However, the Warriors rallied back and took the lead at 21 and held on for the sweep, helping power Cal State Stanislaus was the 19 kills they recorded in the final set.
The Gators return to action on Friday, October 17 when SF State hosts Cal State L.A. at the SF State Gymnasium at Don Nasser Family Plaza. First serve is slated for a 7:00 p.m. start time.
