SAN FRANCISCO – SF State goalkeeper
Allison Land her Gator teammates recorded their fifth shutout of the season as the Gators played to a scoreless double overtime tie with the visiting UC San Diego Tritons. Land recorded five saves this afternoon as the Gators are now 7-6-1 overall and 2-5-1 in the CCAA.
Each team just recorded a combined 8 shot attempts in the first half including just two shots on goal.
Land recorded her first save in just the first minute as she stopped Jordyn McNutt's attempt of giving the visitors the lead.
SF State's first attempt to take the lead sailed wide right off the foot of
Danielle Vidal in the 13
th minute. Three minutes later,
Rachel Arce's attempt to give the Gators the lead also sailed wide.
Arce had another attempt for a goal be stopped in the 29
th minute as Kelcie Brodsky recorded one of her four saves on the day as the match went into the half scoreless.
It looked like the Gators were going to take the lead as
Brittany Oldham's attempt was stopped by Brodsky in the 50
th minute.
SF State had another chance be stopped by Brodsky in the 71
st minute, this time off the foot of
Alex Palomino.
Neither team had another shot on goal attempt in the second half as the match went into the overtime tied at zero.
UC San Diego had two chances for the golden goal in the 95
th and 97
th minutes be stopped by Land. The first one off the foot of Devin Roncoroni and the second a header shot by Cassie Callahan as the match went into the second sudden death overtime period.
Izzy Pozurama had a chance to be the hero be stopped by Land in the 101
st minute. The last chance for either team to score came in the 109
th minute as Brodsky stopped the Gators' Arce from scoring the golden goal as the match ended in a 0-0 double overtime tie.
UC San Diego (6-5-3, 3-3-2 CCAA) outshot the Gators 16-7, but only held a 5-4 advantage in shots on goal. The Tritons also held an 8-0 corner kick advantage.
SF State will continue its three-match home stand this Wednesday, October 22 at 3:30pm, when the Gators host Hawai'i-Hilo in a non-conference match.
