Washington Road Trip Remains Unkind To @SFState_WBB

SEATTLE – For the second consecutive night the SF State women's basketball team could not overcome a 10 point halftime deficit as the Gators fell to host Seattle Pacific 84-54 Wednesday night at Brougham Pavilion.

Three Gators (0-4) scored in double figures led by senior Leticia Galarza who scored a team-high 14 points on 6-for-12 shooting.  The Gators forward scored 12 of her 14 points in the opening half and helped keep the Gators close.

Joining Galarza in double figures was Savannah Camp who scored 12 points on 5-for-10 shooting while grabbing five boards.  Michelle Sutton scored 10 going 4-for-8 from the floor and 2-for-4 from the free throw line.

The Gators had a good night shooting, they finished the night going 20-for-52 from the field, hitting 38.5 percent from the floor.  The Gators started out the game red-hot from three-point range before cooling down in the second half to finish 6-for-21 from behind the arc.

Seattle Pacific (5-0) took a big lead in the second half on the strength of 34 points in the paint, moreover, the Falcons forced 19 Gator turnovers and converted them into 33 points.

Like the night before the Gators battled in the first half.  With 2:53 left in the opening period, Galarza hit a jumper to cut the Falcons lead to five.  That was the closest SF State would get for the remainder of the game.

The Falcons scored five quick points and took a 10 point lead into the intermission.  Coming out of the break the Falcons went on a big run.  With 13:30 in the second half Seattle Pacific's Betsey Kingma hit a three from the corner to put the Falcons out front 20, 57-37.

With 2:09 in the game Seattle Pacific hit the front end of a one and one to take a 33 point lead, their largest of the night.

Suzanne Olson led Seattle Pacific with 16 points, two other Falcons scored in double figures.

The Gators will be off for the rest of the week, they will return to action on Friday, December 5 when the Gators begin their conference slate hosting Humboldt State.  Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m.
