Box Score SAN FRANCISCO --- The SF State men's basketball team forced 23 turnovers and held Cal State Dominguez Hills to 35% shooting en route to a 70-57 win at The Swamp. The Gators were paced by
Nefi Perdomo's game high 24 points. With the win, the Gators sweep the season series from the Toros.
"It feels great to be back home and it was great for our guys to compete as a team," said SF State head coach
Paul Trevor. "Our guys picked up the tempo on defense to key our win this evening."
Perdomo was 8-for-10 from the field connecting on 6 of his 7 attempts from beyond the three-point land.
Max Fodor added 10 points for the Gators while grabbing 6 rebounds.
Calvin Otiono had 9 of SF State's 19 assists.
"Nefi (Perdomo) showed great leadership while
Max Fodor finished well for us this evening," added Trevor. "
Calvin Otiono did a great job finding the open man as well for us."
With the win, the Gators (10-8, 8-7 CCAA) are now a game out of fourth place behind Cal State L.A. and Cal State Stanislaus. The Golden Eagles lost 68-64 at Sonoma State this evening while Cal State San Bernardino defeated Cal State Stanislaus 67-65. The Gators will return home tomorrow evening at 7:30pm to host Cal State L.A.
Pierson Williams paced the Toros (7-15, 4-11 CCAA) with 16 points while Moriba DeFreitas had 14 points off the bench for the visitors.
SF State held a 14-11 ten minutes into the first half, as the hosts increased their lead to 31-19 heading into the locker room as
Nefi Perdomo hit one of his six treys.
Early in the second half, the Gators increased their lead to 35-19 on a made tip-in by
Max Fodor.
The Toros though cut the deficit to 37-28 on a three by Pierson Williams, but the Gators came right back and outscored their guests 19-10 to take a 58-40 lead with just five minutes on the clock.
Cal State Dominguez Hills would not go away as the guests cut the Gator lead to 66-57 with under a minute left, but SF State went four-for-four from the line to secure the 70-57 CCAA home win.
