evening."We truly appreciate Don Nasser's generosity to SF State Athletics. This dedication represents a continuation of the Nasser family's support throughout the years," said Athletic Director
Charles Guthrie. "This new plaza and the upgraded facilities in the gym will have a significant impact for our Gator student-athletes, alumni, as well as our student body as a whole in reminding us of the importance of staying connected."
Don Nasser, an alumnus who graduated in 1963, was the major donor for the gym renovation project that included a new gym floor, updated locker rooms, athletic team rooms, new athletic training room and brand new bleachers featuring chair backs and easier access. The old gym floor was the original gym floor built in 1950.
The event was attended by several hundred special guests, student-athletes and members of the campus community. Athletic Director Guthrie introduced President Les Wong who spoke about the importance of the project and his vision of the Athletics Department serving as the front door of the university moving forward. Also speaking at the event was Don Nasser as well as Vice President Robert Nava.Â
