SAN FRANCISCO --- After securing the 1-0 win against BYU-Hawaii the SF State Gators improve to 4-1-1, their best start since the 2009 season.    
 
Daniel Boyer recorded a season high 10 saves en route to his 2.5 shutout of the season and third for the Gators. 
 
BYU-Hawaii (0-4-1) had two chances early in the match to take a 1-0 lead but Boyer stopped both Pawell Dregan's shot and Chad Nahoolewa's shot in the 13 and 16^th minutes respectively.
 
SF State had a chance to take the 1-0 lead in the 34^th minute, but Chris Pineda stopped Cameron DeJong's shot.
 
Then with less than two minutes left in the half, Daniel Totays connected on a ball from Nathan Fernandez to give SF State a 1-0 lead.  This was Totays' first goal as a Gator.
 
In the second half, the Seasiders looked like they were going to tie the match at 1-1 in the 68^th minute but Romy Lakip's shot was stopped by Boyer.
 
The Gators' Sam Merritt had a chance to double the lead, but his shot was snagged by Jaden Epplette.
 
The guests had one more chance to tie the match, but Boyer once again came up big stopping Colby Bauer's shot in the 83^rd minute.
SF State outshot its guests 13-12 including in the first half.  The Seasiders held a 10-6 advantage in shot on goal attempts. 
 
The Gators will now begin the CCAA season this Friday, Sept. 26 at 12:30pm when they host Cal State Stanislaus at Cox Stadium.
