SAN FRANCISCO –No. 3 Cal State Stanislaus made the most of its scoring chances this afternoon in the Warriors' 1-0 defeat of the SF State Gators this afternoon in both team's conference opener at Cox Stadium.

The Warriors scored in the 37
th minute when Kirsten Coleman connected on a pass from Maecie Ireland on what proved to be the game-winner for the visitors. This was Coleman's sixth goal of the season.Â

The first half just saw a total of six shots by both teams including Coleman's goal.Â

SF State saw its only chance to score in the 39
th minute, but Chelsea Lewandowski stopped
Sabrina Corpus' shot on goal attempt as the match went into the half with a 1-0 Warrior lead.

It looked like the visitors were going to double their lead early in the second half but Nichole Donald's shot hit the cross bar in the 50
th minute.Â

The score remained 1-0, but the Gators had a chance to tie the match in the 65
th minute when Chelsea Lewandowski's stopped
Autumn Fox's shot from going into the net.

SF State (5-2, 0-1 CCAA) had one more chance to tie the match, but
Lauren Hayano's shot sailed high in the 87
th minute as the Warriors hung on for the 1-0 CCAA victory.

Cal State Stanislaus (8-0, 1-0 CCAA) outshot the Gators 11-4 including 5-3 in shots on goal. The Warriors also held a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Allison Land had five saves in goal for the hosts while Lewandowski had three in goal for the victors.

The Gators will host Cal State East Bay this Sunday at 11:30am at Cox Stadium. The Pioneers are currently hosting Humboldt State in Hayward. Â
