@SFState_WBB Falls To Lumberjacks On the Road

ARCATA – The SF State women's basketball team went off in the second half scoring 41 points, but could not overcome the slow start and fell to host Humboldt State 85-61 Saturday night at Lumberjack Arena.
 
The Gators (0-18/0-14 CCAA) had two players in double figures and was led by Jasmine Flanagan's team-high 17 points.  Flanagan was absolutely on fire in the second half. For the game Flanagan went 7-for-11 from the floor and was 3-for-6 from deep.
 
Michelle Sutton joined Flanagan in double figures, scoring 16.  For Sutton this marks the 11th time this season she's finished in double figures.
 
In the first half the Gators offense was slow to round into form.  They finished the opening period scoring 20 points, shooting 9-for-36 including a 1-for-7 mark from deep. 
 
Humboldt State (17-2/13-1 CCAA) jumped out to an early 13-3 lead in the first half following a pair of Lumberjack free throws.  The Gators opened the first half just 1-for-8 from the floor.  SF State closed the gap towards the end of the half following a three point bucket by Sutton.
 
The Jacks owned a 49 to 27 advantage in the rebounds.  In the opening half the Jacks outrebounded the Gators 29-13.  They also owned the paint, scoring 22 points inside the key.
 
In the second half the Gators hit their stride offensively, they opened the half on an 8-5 run and cut into the Lumberjacks lead.  They shot 48.5 percent from the field after the intermission, going 16-for-33 from the floor and 7-for-15 from deep.
 
Leading the Gators on the offensive side of the ball was Flanagan who scored 13 of her 17 in the second period.  She shot 5-for-7 in the second half.
 
The Gators return to action on Friday, February 6 when they travel to Monterey to take on Cal State Monterey Bay at the Kelp Bed.
