@SFStatate_MSOC Controls the Majority of Today's Match But Fall 1-0

SAN FRANCISCO–   Cal State L.A.'s Troy Dumlao connected on a missed shot by Jose Bucio in the 79th for what proved to be the game-winner in the Golden Eagles' 1-0 road conference win over the SF State Gators.  The hosts outplayed their guests in every category but on the scoreboard.

SF State outshot its opponents 16-12 including 9-4 in the second half while each team recorded four shot on goal attempts.  The Gators (5-5-3, 1-4-3 CCAA) also held a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Dumlao recorded the first shot on goal attempt by the Golden Eagles in the fourth minute, but the Gators' Emmanuel Jimenez recorded one of his three saves on the day.

The Gators had their first chance to take an 1-0 lead in the seventh minute, but Anthony Perez stopped Armando Flores' shot from going into the back of the net.  Nolan Parker had a chance to give the Gators the lead in the 10th minute, but his attempt went wide right.

Cal State L.A. (8-2-, 5-2-1 CCAA) came down in the pitch in the 22nd minute and Herbert Biste looked like he was going to give the guests the lead, but his shot hit the crossbar to keep the score tied at 0-0.  Seven minutes later, Daniel Totays saw his attempt to give the Gators a 1-0 lead off a cross from Ashley Watson go wide right.

With eight minutes left in the half, Max Talbert had a header off a corner kick by Totays be stopped by the Golden Eagle defense.  Then right after that Emmanuel Serranos' shot sailed high as the match went scoreless into the halftime.

In the 55th minute, Robert Kelly had a chance to give the Gators the lead but Perez recorded one of his three saves.  One minute later, Jimenez stopped Miguel Galvan's attempt to give Cal State L.A. a 1-0 lead.

The Gators kept on pressuring but they could not get the ball into the back of the net as evident in the 78th minute, when Perez stopped Jordan Wusstig's shot on goal attempt.  Jimenez stopped Bucio's attempt in the 79th minute, but Dumlao connected on the rebound to give the Golden Eagles the 1-0 lead.  That was his sixth goal of the season.

The Gators had a chance to tie the match at 1-1 in the 81st minute, but Jake Nokes' shot attempt sailed wide left as the Golden Eagles held on for the 1-0 victory.

At halftime, the SF State Department of Athletics recognized Professor Chris Moffatt as today's honorary captain.  Professor Moffatt is from the Department of Biology and has taught at SF State since 1998.  Trevor Getz, SF State's Faculty Athletic Representative presented Professor Moffatt with a certificate.9137
