Toros Rally For 2-1 Win Over @SFState_WSOC

SAN FRANCISCO–   Cal State Dominguez Hills scored two second half goals to rally from a 1-0 deficit to defeat the SF State Gators 2-1 this afternoon in a CCAA match-up at Cox Stadium on the campus of SF State.  Kimber Lohman scored the Gators' goal in the 35th minute off a free kick from Taylor Halstenson that Kelsey Wetzstein chipped to Lohman for her third goal of the season.

The Gators (6-6-3, 2-4-3 CCAA) outshot their visitors 17-9 including 11-4 in the second half, but could not find the back of the net.  Cal State Dominguez Hills had a 4-3 advantage in shots on goal while the Gators had a 7-5 corner kick advantage.

Karin Nordin had two saves in goal for the hosts while Alexia Flippen had two in goal for the Toros (2-11-1, 1-7-1 CCAA).

It looked like the Gators were going to take a lead in the 20th minute, but Vanessa Penuna's shot sailed high and then Laura Shea's shot was blocked by the Toro defense to keep the match scoreless.
Eight minutes later, Brittany Oldham had a chance to give the Gators the lead but her shot sailed wide left.

The match remained scoreless until the 35th minute when Kimber Lohman connected on her third goal of the season off a corner kick from Taylor Halstenson that Kelsey Wetzstein flicked to Lohman to give the Gators the 1-0 lead.  It looked like the Gators were going double their lead in the 42nd minute, but Lohman's shot was stopped by Flippen. The Toros had a chance to tie the match, but Ida Eriksson's shot went wide right as the match went into the half with the Gators leading 1-0

SF State had another chance for the lead, but Sydney Stout's shot sailed wide right in the 59th minute.  The Toros came down the pitch after that Gator shot attempt and tied the match at 1-1 when Johana Rosas connected on a corner kick from Eriksson in the 60th minute.  The Toros took a 2-1 lead four minutes later on a goal by Eriksson off a free kick from Megan Guzman.

The Gators had a chance to tie the match in the 74th minute, but Kayleen Belda had her shot attempt blocked by the Toro defense.  The Gators had one final chance to even the score, but Jada Williams' shot sailed high as the Toros hung on for the 2-1 victory.

SF State will continue its four-match home stand this Friday, October 23 as they host Cal State San Bernardino at 12:30pm at Cox Stadium.
