SAN MARCOS – For the second consecutive match, the SF State Gators played to a 1-1 double overtime draw in a CCAA match. This time the Gators tied 1-1 at Cal State San Marcos with
Kimber Lohman scoring the tying goal in the 70
th minute on an unassisted goal from 6-yards out.
The Cougars outshot their guests 12-8, but the Gators controlled the overtime periods with three shots to the hosts two. Each team recorded four shots on goals with Cal State San Marcos holding a 8-3 advantage in corner kicks.
SF State (6-3-3, 2-1-3 CCAA) had an early chance to take the lead in the 11
th minute as
Laura Shea's shot was stopped by the Cougars' Allie Jara. The Gators had another chance at the lead, but
Hannah Mikles' shot sailed wide right in the 43
rd minute as the match went into the second half tied at 0-0.
Cal State San Marcos (2-5-4, 2-3-2 CCAA) came out firing in the second as the hosts took a 1-0 lead in the 51
st minute when Meghan Randig scored off a ball from Sidney Hernandez.
The match remained 1-0 Cougars until the 70
th minute, when
Kimber Lohman scored the tying goal from six-yards out for her second goal of the season.
The Cougars had a chance to take the lead, but
Karin Nordin stopped Sarah Campbell's shot in the 71
st minute.
SF State had its only chance sail wide left in the 83
rd minute off the foot of
Chelsea Frostick as the match went into the overtime periods.
Jenna Hernandez recorded the only shot attempt in the first overtime in the 96
th minute, but Nordin stopped the golden goal attempt as the match went into the second overtime eperiod.
In the second overtime, Paulina Good had an attempt for the golden goal but her shot went wide in the 105
th minute. Two minutes later,
Autumn Fox had a chance but her header shot was stopped as was
Danielle Vidal's shot in the 110
th minute as the match ended in a 1-1 tie.
SF State will return to the pitch this Sunday morning at 11:30am for a CCAA match with UC San Diego in La Jolla. The Tritons are hosting Cal State Monterey Bay today.
