@SFState_MBB Ends Exhibition Season at West Coast Conference Member, Saint Mary's

MORAGA– The SF State Gators ended their exhibition season playing in the Saint Mary's College Gaels' regular season home opener this evening at McKeon Pavilion in Moraga. All three of the Gators' exhibition games were against NCAA Division I opponents including two from the West Coast Conference.  SF State will open up its 2015-16 regular season tomorrow at 7pm when the Gators host Pacific Union at The Swamp at The Don Nasser Family Plaza.

"I would like to thank Saint Mary's for giving us the honor of playing them in their home opener, said head coach Paul Trevor.  "This was a great experience for our guys."
Saint Mary's (1-0) defeated the Gators 80-56 behind Emmett Naar's game high 27 points.  Naar was 10 of 14 from the field including connecting on 7 of his three-point field goal attempts and dished out 5 assists.

Treaven Duffy paced the Gators with 11 points off the bench in 22 points.  He also dished out four of SF State's 12 assists while grabbing four rebounds. The first 11:30 minutes of the game was a close ball game as the Gators took their first lead, 12-11, on a three by Ryne Williams off an assist from Warren Jackson.  After that, the Gaels went on a 19-1 run capped by a three by Naar to take a 30-13 lead with 6:31 to go in the first half.
A three by Stefan Gonzalez gave Saint Mary's its largest lead of the half, 43-22, heading into the locker room.

A jumper by Coley Apsay at the 16:49 mark of the second half, cut the hosts lead to 47-26, but they went on a 12-0 run to take a 59-26 lead a lead they would not relinquish as Saint Mary's took its regular season home opener 80-56.

SF State had 12 assists on 21 made baskets. Besides Duffy's four, Floyd Wormley, Andre Jones and Damien Rance each had two apiece.

"We are really excited to be home tomorrow evening for our regular season opener," added Trevor.  "Our guys have been playing hard and are ready to get the regular season started."  "We start off tomorrow 0-0."
