No. 15 UC San Diego Takes Game One Of Four-Game Series from @SFState_BASE

LA JOLLA –   Four UC San Diego Tritons pitchers combined for a four-hit shutout in the hosts' 8-0 win this evening at the Triton Ballpark in La Jolla.  Justin Donatella (1-1) picked up the win for the No. 15 Tritons.  Four different Gators had one hit apiece in Fernando Escobar, Bryce Cherry, Will Hein and Andrew Breen

Jack Larsen's one-out two-run single through the right side gave UC San Diego the 2-0 lead in the first inning.  The Tritons added another one in the third and three in the fourth to increase their lead to 6-0.

UC San Diego (5-2, 1-0 CCAA) added insurance runs in the sixth and seventh innings to increase its lead to 8-0.  Larsen finished 1 for 3 with three runs batted in while Erik Lewis scored twice for the victors. 

Justin Donatella (1-1) picked up thwin for the Tritons,k pitching six innings of scoreless two-hit ball while striking out six and walking two.

Preston Tarter (0-1) recorded the loss for the Gators, pitching 3.2 innings of four-hit ball, giving up six runs (three earned) while striking out one.  Grant Vogenthaler and Matthew Hernandez pitched the final 4.1 innings of relief, giving up four this and a run while striking out three and walking one between them.

The two teams will continue their four-game series tomorrow afternoon with a noon starting doubleheader at the Triton Ballpark in La Jolla.  The series will conclude on Sunday with a 11am starting single game.
