SAN FRANCISCO – With the Johnny Mathis Invitational a week away it is perfect timing that the SFGate.com posted an article online written by Peter Hartlaub about the athlete that many fans never knew Johnny Mathis was.
Inducted into the SF State Athletics Hall of Fame in 1984, Mathis played basketball and was a track star for the Gators. At one time, he owned the SF State high jump record.
