NAMPA, Idaho – SF State's women's soccer team dominated this afternoon's non-conference match with Northwest Nazarene as the Gators outshot their opponents 11-4 in shot on goal attempts, but they still lost 2-0 in Nampa, Idaho.

SF State (0-2-0) also held a 30-11 in shot attempts including recording 17 shots in the second half to the Crusaders 5. Northwest Nazarene's Daniele Ortiz recorded 11 saves on the day including 8 in the second half.

Karin Nordin had two saves in goal for the visitors.

SF State had three attempts in the first 14 minutes of the match to take the lead. At the 9 minute mark,
Vanessa Penuna saw her attempt sail high and then four minutes later
Autumn Fox's attempt was blocked by the Crusader defense. At the 13:53 mark,
Brittany Oldham tried to give the Gators the lead but her attempt sailed high over the goal.

Northwest Nazarene's Nicole Nsa saw her chance to give the hosts the lead, but her attempt hit the crossbar.Â

Late in the first half it looked like the Gators were going to take the lead but Ortiz recorded three saves in the final five minutes of the half to send the match into the half with a scoreless tie.

The Gators had another chance at the 47 minute mark to take the lead, but Ortiz stopped
Kimber Lohman's shot on goal attempt.Â

Ortiz came up with another save in the 55
th minute as she stopped
Cassie Stansberry's shot attempt.

Five minutes later, Kelsey Martin connected on a free kick from 30 yards out to give the hosts a 1-0 lead.

Taylor Halstenson saw her attempt to tie the match for the Gators stopped by Ortiz in the 68
th minute.
In the 85
th minute, Natasha Gosaico tried to tie the match for the Gators but Ortiz kept the ball from going into the back of the net.

Northwest Nazarene sealed the match at the 89:02 mark when Martin connected on her second goal of the match off a cross from Hannah Holm to give the Crusaders a 2-0 victory.
The Gators will have their home opener this Thursday, September 10 at 2pm when they host Montana State-Billings at Cox Stadium.Â
