Box Score CHICO–   SF State took a 38-37 lead mid-way through the second half, but the 25th ranked Chico State Wildcats went on a 7-0 run to key their 61-50 conference home win over the visiting Gators.  Floyd Wormley paced the Gators with a game high 16 points

"We played hard hard this evening," said SF State head coach Paul Trevor.  "We weren't as sharp as we needed to be against a good Chico State team.  We also did not shoot the ball well as evident by our 20% shooting from three-point range.  Floyd
Wormley gave us good minutes, but unfortunately no one else stepped up."

Chico State (13-3, 7-2 CCAA) had three players score in double digits paced by Corey Silverstrom and Drew Kitchens each with 12 points.  Isaiah Ellis added 10 points for the Wildcats.

The Wildcats held the Gators (8-6, 2-6 CCAA) to just 36% shooting from the field including 20% from three-point land.  They
also out-rebounded their visitors 35-29 led by Jalen McFerren's 9 rebounds.

Besides Wormley's 16 points, Coley Apsay added 9 points and Warren Jackson chipped in 7 and Treaven Duffy added 6 points for the visitors.

Chico State built a 28-17 lead in the first half lead, but the Gators two free throws by Jackson cut deficit to 28-19 heading into the locker room.

The Wildcats had a 37-26 early in the second half, but the Gators went on a 12-0 run capped by a Damien Rance three to give the hosts a 38-37 lead with 12:42 to go in the game.  The hosts followed that with a 7-0 run of their own to take a 44-37 lead, a lead they would not give up.

Jon McMurry hit two free throws to cut the Wildcat lead to 44-42 at the 7:21 mark, but the hosts went on a 13-0 run to increase their lead to 57-44 with a little over four minutes to go in regulation.

A jumper by Wormley cut the deficit to single digits with 2:17 to go, but the Wildcats scored four of the final six points to take the 61-50 victory.

SF State did record 11 steals on the evening including four by Apsay and two each by Jackson and Wormley.

The Gators will return to the court tomorrow evening with a 7:30pm scheduled tip-off with the Stanislaus Warriors in Turlock.  The Warriors lost 64-56 in overtime this evening to Sonoma State in Turlock.
