Toros Snap @SFState_WSOC's Unbeaten Streak at 8

CARSON, Calif.– The San Francisco State Gators' unbeaten streak was snapped at 8 this evening at the hands of the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros in a CCAA match in Carson, Calif.  The Toros' Ida Eriksson scored the golden goal with just 35 seconds left in the second overtime as the hosts secured the 1-0 CCAA victory.

San Francisco State (5-2-3, 2-1-2 CCAA) held a 19-10 shot advantage including a 6-4 shot on goal advantage in the loss to the Toros.  Eriksson's golden goal came off of loose ball and arched over the Gators' goalkeeper.  Christina Holguin had 3 saves in goal for San Francisco State.  The Gators will return to the pitch this Sunday at 2pm, when they travel to face Cal State L.A. in Los Angeles.  The Golden Eagles defeated Cal State Monterey Bay 2-0 this evening in Los Angeles.

MATCH NOTES:

UNBEATEN STREAK:  The Gators had their 8-match unbeaten streak snapped this evening.  This was the longest unbeaten streak since 2010, when they went 9 matches without a loss.

GOLDEN GOAL:  This was the Gators' first loss in overtime.  The three overtime games, San Francisco State went 0-0-3. 

HAD THEIR CHANCES:  San Francisco State had their chances in its 1-0 double overtime loss this evening.  The Gators outshot their opponents 13-6 in the second half and two overtime periods.  The Gators had six chances in the second half to score including three by Brittany Oldham and one by Kimber Lohman which was a bicycle kick try in the 85th minute.

SEASON LONG ROAD TRIP:  The Gators will end their season long five-match road trip this Sunday afternoon at 2pm at Cal State L.A.  San Francisco State has gone  1-1-2 in its first four matches of the road trip with a 1-0 win over Holy Names to start it off on September 18.
