@SFState_WSOC Uses Second Half Surge To Defeat Lumberjacks, 4-0

ARCATA, Calif.  – After playing a scoreless first half, the San Francisco State Gators erupted for four goals in the final 45 minutes to defeat the hosts, Humboldt State Lumberjacks 4-0 in a CCAA soccer match at College Creek Field on the campus of Humboldt State in Arcata this afternoon.

Seeing her first time on the pitch since September 25, Natasha Gosiaco scored her third goal of the season just six minutes into the second half to give the Gators (7-4-3, 4-3-2 CCAA) a 1-0 lead. She scored off a ball from Kimber Lohman and Sierra Sagasta.  This ended up being the game-winning goal of the match, which was Gosiaco's team leading third game-winning goal of the season.

The Gators doubled their score in the 69th minute, when Kimber Lohman scored her fourth goal of the season on pass by Morgan Rhym.  The visitors sealed the mac hint eh 76th minute on an unassisted goal by Taylor Halstenson.  Then with less than nine minutes left in the match, the Gators scored their fourth and final goal off the foot of Kayleen Belda on an assist from Bianca Lowe.

San Francisco State, who for the time being is in fifth place in the CCAA, just one point out third and fourth place which is currently held by No. 19 Sonoma State and Cal State L.A.

The Gators will return to the pitch this Sunday, October 16 at 2pm in Santa Rosa, Calif., for a CCAA match with No. 19 Sonoma State at Santa Rosa Junior College.  The Seawolves defeated Cal State Monterey Bay earlier today 4-0 in Petaluma.

MATCH NOTES:
SEASON HIGH: 
The four goals for the Gators is the most since they defeated Holy Names University 5-1 on September 22, 2015.  The four goals scored in a CCAA win are the most since a 4-1 win at Cal State East Bay on September 20, 2015.

TOTAL TEAM EFFORT: Eight different Gators were part of their four goals this afternoon with Kimber Lohman scoring a goal and assisted on one. 

FIRST GOALS:  Taylor Halstenson and Kayleen Belda each scored their first goal of the season while Kimber Lohman scored her fourth goal of the season, which ties her with Sierra Sagasta for the team lead.

THIRD GAME-WINNER:  Natasha Gosiaco's goal in the 51st minute was her team leading third game-winning goal of the season.  Sierra Sagasta has two game-winners while Jada Williams and Kelsey Wetzstein have the other two.

LUCKY NUMBER 7:  Christina Holguin recorded two saves in goal for the Gators this afternoon en route to her 7th shutout of the season. She is now 7-3-2 in goal for the Gators.

19 ASSISTS:  The Gators now have 19 assists on the season after recording five this afternoon with Sierra Sagasta and Morgan Rhym recording their first of the season.  Autumn Fox leads the team with 6.

CHANGE OF VENUE:  The Gators' match on Sunday afternoon be played at Santa Rosa Junior College at 2pm instead of Sonoma State due to inclement weather scheduled for this weekend in the Bay Area.  This will be a Homecoming of sort for many of the Gators including head coach Tracy Hamm, who began her collegiate coaching at SRJC.
