SAN FRANCISCO--- The San Francisco State Gators dominated this afternoon's match with the Cal State East Bay Pioneers as they defeated their guests 6-1. With the win, the Gators improve to 8-6-2 overall and 4-5-2 in the CCAA.
Francisco Saucedo put the Gators on the board in the 38
th minute as he connected on a ball from
Andy Altamirano for his first goal in the purple and gold. The match remained 1-0 San Francisco State until the 56
th minute, when
Marco Ruelas connected on a ball from
Jesse Rodriguez as the Gators doubled their lead.
KJ Aho sealed the match for the hosts in the 67
th minute, as he connected on a ball from
Ashley Watson to make it 3-0 hosts. Saucedo connected on his second goal of the season and of the match, three minutes later on another cross from Altamirano. Ruelas, could not be outdone by Saucedo, as he connected on a corner from
Bardia Ohadi in the 74
th minute.
The Gators' final goal came in the 82
nd minute as Ohadi crossed the ball to
Jordan Wusstig as the hosts increased their lead to 6-0. Christian Gonzalez connected on his own missed shot to score the Pioneers' only goal in the 85
th minute.
BACK TO BACK TO BACK: With their win this afternoon, the Gators recorded their first back to back to back winning seasons in over 30 years. If they win on Saturday, they will record their first non-losing CCAA season in school history.
SIX GOALS; The six goals were the most goals by the Gators this season. Two Gators recorded their first goals of the season in
Francisco Saucedo and
Marco Ruelas.
Bardia Ohadi also recorded his first two assists of the season.
DOMINATION: The Gators outshot the Pioneers 27-12 and also held a 11-5 advantage in shot on goals. They also held a slim 7-=6 corner kick advantage.
FINAL ONE: The Gators will one more match left in the regular season. They will host Stanislaus State this Saturday, October 29 at 2pm. Prior to the match the Gators will recognize their four seniors.
