DaDalt’s Career Day Not Enough For @SFState_WBB

CHICO, Calif. – A career-high 18 points, along with seven rebounds from junior forward Kaitlin DaDalt, and the return of Kiara Ginwright was not enough as the visiting San Francisco State women's basketball team fell to host Chico State 76-48 Saturday afternoon at Acker Gymnasium.

SFSU (2-9/0-4 CCAA) had two finish in double figures.  DaDalt led the team with a career-high 18 points, she went 6-for-14 from the floor, and was 2-for-5 from 3-point range.  She also grabbed seven rebounds and an assist.  Lauryn Catching finished with 10 points, she also had two assists and two steals.

The Gators shot 34.0 percent from the field for the game, going 17-for-50.  In the second half, SFSU could not find the range, going 4-for-20 from the floor.  The difference on the afternoon was the pressure Chico State (8-4/3-3 CCAA) applied all afternoon.  The Wildcats created 19 turnovers that led to 27 points for the Wildcats.

In the opening half, the Wildcats were red hot from long range, going 4-for-7 from beyond the arc.  They were also aided by nine Gator turnovers that led to 14 points for the Wildcats.  Offensively, SF State came out slow in the first half, but found their offense inside the key, scoring 16 of their 31 first half points in the paint.

To start the second half, SF State scored four quick points and cut the deficit to 11 points.  From there Chico State went on a 13-0 run to put the game away.  The Wildcats had four players score 10 or more and were led by Whitney Branham's game-high 19 points.

The Gators return to action on Tuesday when they host Humboldt State.  Tip-off for that game is slated for 4:00 p.m.
