@SFState_MBB Extends Historic Winning Streak on Strength of Second Half Surge

SAN FRANCISCO---  The San Francisco State Gators improved to 8-0 overall and 2-0 in the CCAA with a 80-65 win over the visiting Cal State East Bay Pioneers this evening in a conference showdown at The Swamp at The Don Nasser Family Plaza.  The Gators were led by the trio of Warren Jackson, Chiefy Ugbaja and Coley Apsay as they combined for 56 of SF State's 80 points.

Cal State East Bay (7-2, 1-1 CCAA) came out on fire in the first 10 minutes of the game.  Taking a 27-11 lead, capped by two made free throws by Jalen Richard.  The Gators went on a 14-0 run to cut the deficit to 27-25 on a made tip-in by Ugbaja.  Micah Dunhour's jumper gave the visitors a 38-25 lead with 1:45 left in the half, but the Gators scored the final five points of the half on a three by Parker U'u and a tip-in by AJ Kahlon to cut the deficit to 38-30 heading into the locker room.

The second half was totally controlled by the Gators.  SF State outscored their opponents 34-14 in the first 12 minutes of the new stanza and never looked back.  The closest the Pioneers would get was 14 as the Gators cruised to an 80-65 conference win.

The Gators will have a busy week with three games next week.  They will start off the week with an exhibition game with cross-town foe University of San Francisco on Tuesday, December 6.  The two teams will face each other at Kezar Pavilion in San Francisco with a scheduled tip-off of 8pm.  SFSU will return to CCAA action on Friday, December 9 at 7:30pm as they travel to Kentfield, Calif., and face Sonoma State University at College of Marin.  The Gators will finish off their week with a non-conference game on Saturday, December 10 at 7pm against Simpson University.
