SAN FRANCISCO--- The SF State Gators used the combination of strong defense and stellar pitching to key their conference doubleheader sweep of the visiting Stanislaus State Warriors 3-2 and 1-0 this afternoon at Maloney Field on the campus of SF State.
Ryan Bohnet and
Dillon Houser each picked up the wins with
Brent Montgomery recording his first save as a Gator.

Noeh Martinez made great plays in both games, game saving plays! We have put ourselves in a position to win a series against a good program."
SF State took a 1-0 lead in its half of the first inning in the opener.
Bryce Brooks had a lead-off single, went to second on a bunt single by
Chad Thurston. Then Thurston advanced to second when Ryan Paramo induced a double play. With two outs,
Ryan Burke drove home Thurston with a run scoring single through the left side to give the Gators a 1-0 lead.
The Warriors had a two-run third inning to take a 2-1 lead in their half of the third inning. Scott Stetson reached base with one out on a hit batsmen. He went to third on a single by Patrick Mulry. With one out, Mulry stole his 10
th base of the season and then scored along with Stetson on a single to right field by Aldo Koutsoyanopulos to give the visitors a 2-1 lead.
The score remained 2-1 Warriors until the Gator half of the eighth inning. Brooks had a lead-off walk. Then with one out,
Nick Jackson pinch ran for him. Jackson advanced to second on a wild pitch and to third on a balk with two outs. Burke walked to put Gators on the corners. Jackson scored on an errant throw as Burke stole second to tie the game at 2-2.
Chris Nicholson walked and then Burke stole third. Still with two outs, Burke scored on a wild pitch to give the Gators a 3-2 lead.
Brent Montgomery came in to pitch for
Ryan Bohnet, who pitched 8 innings of six-hit ball, giving up two runs, striking out five and walking one. Montgomery hit the first batter he faced in Kyle Nixon who then advanced to second on a sacrifice by Gino Franceschetti. Montgomery struck out the next batter and induced the final out on a fly out to
Myles Franklin in right field to preserve the 3-2 come-from-behind Gator win.
Bohnet improved to 2-2 while Montgomery recorded his first save. SF State managed 7 hits with three coming off the bat of Burke.
Ian Chandler (0-1) recorded the loss in relief for Stanislaus State. Ryan Paramo had the no decision in the start, pitching 7 innings, giving up 7 hits and one run while striking out one. Mulry and Koutsoyanopulos each had two hits apiece to lead the Warrior offense, who had 6 hits in the opener.
It was a pitching duel in the night cap, between the Gators'
Dillon Houser and Robbie Devries for Stanislaus State. Houser (4-3) picked up his first shutout as a Gator, pitching 7 innings of two-hit ball while striking out two and walking no one. Devries (2-3) recorded the loss, pitching 6 innings, giving up three hits and one run while striking out 6 and walking one.
SF State (18-19, 11-15 CCAA) had a chance to break the scoreless game in its half of the third inning. Jackson had a two-out single, went to second on his 14
th stolen base of the season then to third on a wild pitch. Devries induced the final out on a ground out back to him to keep the score 0-0.
Stanislaus State's Chavarria recorded the Warriors' first hit in the fourth with a two-out single but Houser retired the next batter on a fly out to Franklin in right center.
The Gators broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the fourth inning. Franklin had a lead-off single, went to second on a sacrifice by
Dalton Pizzuti and advanced to third on a wild pitch. With two outs, pinch-hitter Thurston drove home Franklin with a single to left center with what proved to be the game-winning run.
The Warriors (19-20, 10-17 CCAA) had a chance to tie the game in their final at bat in their half of the seventh inning. Mulry had a lead-off single, went to second on a sacrifice by Chavarria. Houser induced the final two batters to fly out to Jackson in center as the Gators swept the doubleheader from the Warriors.
The two teams will conclude the four-game series as the Gators will look for the series win tomorrow afternoon at noon with a single game at Warrior Baseball Field on the campus of Stanislaus State in Turlock.
