@SFState_WSOC Extends Unbeaten Streak to Seven

POMONA--- San Francisco State Gators' unbeaten streak is now at seven as they played to a double overtime scoreless tie with the Cal Poly Pomona Broncos this evening in a CCAA showdown at Kellogg Field.  The Gators now have recorded five shutouts in their last six matches.

Junior goalkeeper Christina Holguin recorded five saves en route to her fifth shutout for the visitors.  Ricki Ives also had five saves in goal for Cal Poly Pomona (2-3-2, 1-1-1 CCAA).

Sierra Sagasta had two chances early in the match to give the Gators the lead, but her first shot attempt was blocked by the Bronco defense and then Ives recorded one of her five saves on the evening. Eight minutes later, it looked like the visitors were going to take the lead but Ives was once again stepped up as she stopped Paige Yeider's shot on goal attempt of going into the back of the net.

The Broncos saw their attempt at the lead be stopped in the 21st minute as Holguin stopped Hailey James' shot on goal attempt.

Each team had one more chance late in the half of taken the lead, but Holguin stopped Lauren Miller's attempt in the 33rd minute and Ives stopped Sydney Stout's attempt in the 37th minute.  The match went into halftime scoreless.

The Broncos came out in the second half on the aggressive side as Daisy Duran and Hailey James each had chances in the first six minutes to give the hosts the lead, but each fell short.

In the 63rd minute, Sagasta had another chance to give her team the lead, but her header sailed wide of the net.  Then with less than four minutes left in regulation, Kimber Lohman had a chance to be the hero for the Gators but once again Ives came up huge for Cal Poly Pomona.  Duran had the last chance of regulation to give either team the lead, but her shot attempt was blocked by the Gator defense as the match went into the sudden death overtime.

There was just one shot on goal attempt in the first overtime period as Holguin snagged James' shot on goal attempt in the 93rd minute as the match went into the second overtime period still scoreless.  In the second overtime, Brittany Oldham had a chance for the golden goal but Ives stopped her attempt as the match ended in a double overtime scoreless tie.

Cal Poly Pomona outshot the Gators while reach team recorded four corner kicks.

San Francisco State (5-1-2, 2-0-1 CCAA) will now travel to San Bernardino this Sunday, September 25 for a 2pm showdown with the Cal State San Bernardino Coyotes.  Cal State San Bernardino defeated Cal State Monterey Bay earlier this afternoon in a CCAA match in San Bernardino.
