Cold Fourth Quarter Proves Costly For @SFState_WBB

SAN FRANCISCO – The San Francisco State women's basketball team took a three point as the buzzer sounded to end the third quarter.  However, a sluggish fourth quarter on offense proved to be costly, as the Gators fell to visiting Cal State San Bernardino 56-52.

Toni Edwards hit that clutch 3-point bucket, giving the Gators a 43-40 advantage.  It was three of her six points.  She also had four steals.  However, the advantage did not last long. The Coyotes (8-4/5-3 CCAA) went on an 8-0 run and never looked back.

The Gators (2-14/0-9 CCAA) shot 32.8 percent from the field, going 20-for-61.  SFSU struggled from beyond the arc where they were 2-for-15 from 3-point range in the first half and finished the game 5-for-22.

Leading the team in scoring was Kaitlin DaDalt who scored 11 points.  Lauryn Catching finished second on the team with nine points.  Donae Moguel finished a point shy of her second double-double, scoring nine points and grabbing 10 rebounds.  Kayla Watterson had another strong night on the class grabbing 10 boards.

GAME NOTES

Coaches Quote
"I thought our kids fought really hard again tonight," said head coach Dennis Cox.  "We just didn't get the offensive execution that we needed down the stretch or the defensive stop at the critical moment at the end and those are things we need to do to get the win.  But once again I was really proud of our effort."

Bench Chipping In
The Gators bench was once again active tonight, scoring 17 points.  Leading the way for the reserves was Jasmine Black and Donae Moguel.  Black finished with five points, while Moguel finished with nine.

Next Up
The Gators return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 18 when they travel down to San Bernardino to take on these same Coyotes at Coussouliss Arena.  Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m.
