CHICO, Calif. — The San Francisco State women's volleyball team dropped in straight sets, 3-0 (25-8, 25-19, 28-26), on Tuesday at Chico State in CCAA play.
The Gators (6-12/2-8 CCAA) dropped their third consecutive road match. Another slow start allowed Chico State (9-10/3-6 CCAA) to amass a 13-point run and jump out to the early lead.
SF State jumped out to an 8-3 lead in set two but the Wildcats answered with a six-point run that saw the lead swing back to the Wildcats. The Gators regained the lead, 16-14, only to see it vanish again after a five-point Wildcats run.
Set three saw the Gators in another hole, 22-17, but SF State bounced chipped away with a four-point run, then took the lead with a three-point run, 26-25. However, an Olivia Mediano kill followed by a pair from Makaela Keeve closed the match out.
Bailey Johnson led SF State with seven kills.
Drew Morris added six and
Brenna Dougherty and
Olivia Tabron each had four apiece. Freshman libero
Jocelyn Rodriguez had 10 digs in the loss.
Chico State was led by Keeve's nine kills. Tristen Thompson led all players with 11 digs.
