HAYWARD, Calif. – The San Francisco State women's basketball team scored 32 points after the intermission, but it would not be enough as host Cal State East Bay came away with the 60-50 win on Saturday night at Pioneer Gym. The Pioneers outscored the Gators 36-12 in the paint, which proved to be the difference in the contest.
SF State (2-21/0-16 CCAA) had a sluggish opening half, shooting just 23.1 percent from the field to begin the game, going 6-for-26 from the floor. After the break, the Gators were tremendous on the offensive side of the ball, shooting 44.0 percent from the field, going 11-for-25. They also shot 40 percent from 3-point range, going 6-for-15 in the second half.
Unfortunately, for the Gators Cal State East Bay (16-8/13-4 CCAA) owned the key, where they scored 36 of their 60 points. They also capitalized on SF State's 16 turnovers, turning them into 20 points.
The Gators had two players score in double figures and was led by
Kaitlin DaDalt's game-high 18 points. She also grabbed two rebounds.
Lauryn Catching finished with 11 points, while grabbing seven boards and dishing out four assists.
Donae Moguel's run of double-doubles came to an end, as she finished with five points and seven rebounds.
Kayla Watterson also scored five points and grabbed six rebounds.
Cal State East Bay was led by the duo of Shomari Harris and Remy Puou who both scored 17 points apiece. Puou finished with a double-double, scoring 17 points and grabbing 15 rebounds.
The Gators will return to action next Friday when they host Cal State Dominguez Hills at 5:30 p.m. at The Swamp at the Don Nasser Family Plaza.
