ROHNERT PARK, Calif. — The San Francisco State baseball team fell 4-0 in non-conference action at Sonoma State on Monday.
A leadoff walk in the bottom half of the Sonoma State (1-0) first inning led to an RBI for Bryce Nagata. Nagata stole second and an errant pickoff attempt allowed him to take third. A sacrifice fly scored Nagata and a two-out home for Matthew Richards made it 3-0.
In the bottom of the third, Nagata's baserunning led to another run. He singled to left, stole second, and moved over on a fielding error. Richards struck out but a double steal allowed Nagata to come home.
SF State's (2-2) had a couple of chances to get on the board. In the fourth inning,
Jordan Abernathy led off with a single and
Chris Nicholson worked a full-count walk. However, Byerline induced a flyout, a fielder's choice, and a strikeout to get out of the jam. In the seventh, a Seawolves error and hit by pitch loaded the bases but Ricky Clark got
Zac Neumann, who had two of the Gators' five hits, to foul out.
